Following directive regulates the registration of plant protection products:
Guideline 91/414/EEC
Registration according to guideline 91/414/EEC is time-consuming and cost-intensive as, for each case (an indication = the combination of crop, pest/desease and pesticide) and in each country, registration has to be applied for.
The necessary field trials must be conducted at different sites over a two-years period. However, due to the fact that the quality and complexity requirements for a Biological Assessment Dossier (BAD) can differ from one country to another, the risk does exist that these trials may not be accepted and must be repeated or extended.
New field trials on the one hand, but also a delayed market launch of the product on the other hand both lead to increased expenses.
